Josephine Godbolt

  The family of Josephine X (Rutherford) Godbolt are very sad to announce her passing on April 7th, 2023, at the age of 88.  She was born on April 21, 1934, in Peachburg, Alabama.  She retired from the New England Bell Telephone Company where she had worked for 20 years.  Josephine was a devoted mother and grandmother always traveling hundreds of miles to watch family basketball, softball or soccer games.  We could go on and on about this wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and role model.  She has shown us the way and while our sadness overwhelms us, her memories will bring a smile to our face as time passes.

  She will be sweetly remembered by her children, Gwendolyn Godbolt Ruff (and Danny Ruff), Wilford “Champ” Godbolt Jr., and Ras Edward Godbolt (and Jennifer Chatain); her brothers, Joseph Rutherford and Otis Rutherford, her grandchildren, Danielle Michelle Ruff, Olivia Joel Malone, Ras Elijah Godbolt;  and her great-grandson, Deron Michael Ruff.

  She is predeceased by her husband, Wilford Godbolt Sr., her father, Joseph Rutherford, her mother, Elizabeth (Pendleton) Rutherford, her brothers Jesse Rutherford and Donald Rutherford, and a grandson, Deron Ruff.  God bless all those who loved her and cared for her over the last few months.

The calling hour is 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at Harrell Funeral Home, followed by Janazah prayers at 11, with burial in Hillcrest Park Cemetery.
