Katie McKoy Obituary

Katie McKoy, 77,  devout prayer warrior, and teacher of the gospel passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2021 at her home. Born in Laurinburg, North Carolina,  Katie made Springfield, MA her home 51 years ago when she relocated from North Carolina.  She immersed herself in the word of God, was a member of Spring of Hope Church Of God In Christ and was active there as a member of The Bible Band, Mother Board, and the Church Choir.  She was also very active as a minister with The Bible Counseling Ministries. Katie most enjoyed teaching the gospel and, singing, bowling and dancing for the Lord.  Preceded in death by her parents John A. McNeill, Esther McNeill, Lucille McNeill, her husband John McKoy (2007) ; three of her siblings Mary (Mag) Vandergriff, Johnny McNeill and Ada Jane McNeill,  she leaves to cherish her memories five children Michael McKoy of CT, Vernita McKoy-Reid , Mark McKoy (and Ana) , Monique McKoy-Kutumaka and Itisha Clark-McKoy all of Springfield, MA; her siblings Elizabeth McNeil, Sarah McKoy and  Catherine JoshuaAdonai; a godchild Barbara Annette McKoy, brother in law Edward L. McKoy, 23 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.  The public viewing will be 10:00-11 a.m. on Friday at Spring of Hope Church Of God In Christ, 35 Alden Street.  The funeral commences at 11 a.m. with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery.
