Kenneth “Kenny” Montell Coleman, 63, of Springfield, Massachusetts, passed away suddenly on April 15, 2026—leaving behind a silence that will be hard to fill without his booming laugh and unforgettable personality.
Born on July 23, 1962, Kenny didn’t just enter a room—he made an entrance. Known for his quick wit, infectious laugh, and ability to turn even the most ordinary moment into something memorable, he had a way of making people feel like they’d known him forever. Whether he was cracking jokes, telling stories (some more than once—and always better each time), or just being his larger-than-life self, Kenny kept life interesting.
He was a roofer and HVAC technician by trade, and a loyal and passionate fan of the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, NASCAR, and the WWF—celebrating their wins loudly and coaching them from his living room during the losses (whether they asked for it or not). When he wasn’t cheering on his teams, Kenny loved traveling to places like Mexico and the Dominican Republic with his dearest love, Liz, where he made memories just as big as his personality. He also enjoyed hitting the road on his Harley-Davidson.
Kenny was predeceased by his father, Lavern J. Coleman, his grandmother, Gladys Gardley, and his sister, Darlene O’Neal—no doubt greeted by them with open arms and a few jokes waiting on the other side.
He leaves behind his loving mother, Barbara Coleman; his uncle Hilary (“Bo”) Gardley (and his wife Charmaine), his daughters, Sarah Meade and Julia Hall, who he loved unconditionally, his beloved grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews who absolutely adored him—and probably have a few hilarious Kenny stories of their own.
He is also survived by his siblings: Alene Bazer (and her husband Jeff), Jacqueline Coleman-Cassista (and her husband Daniel), Larry Coleman, and Bobby Coleman, all of whom shared in a lifetime of memories, laughter, and the kind of stories that only a family like theirs could tell. We also cannot forget to mention his beloved kitty, Foofy Foo.
His love for his family was constant, even if it sometimes came wrapped in jokes, “playful” teasing, and just enough sarcasm to keep everyone on their toes. He spent the last two years of his life as a doting caregiver for several family members.
Kenny will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and talked about often—usually with a smile, a laugh, and maybe someone saying, “That sounds just like him.”
A wake will be held on May 1, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at Harrell Funeral Home, followed by a brief service with prayers and shared memories concluding at 1:00 p.m.
