Kevin M. Gray

  Kevin Maurice Gray, 54, of Johannesburg, South Africa, entered into eternal rest in Springfield, Massachusetts, on Friday, September 15, 2023.

He was born in Springfield and is the third son born to the union of Ellis Gray Sr. and Nancy Louise (Williams) Gray.

He graduated from the High School of Commerce in 1987 and later enrolled into his beloved HBCU, North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, North Carolina.  In 1993 he graduated from the School of Business with a Bachelor's Degree.  Kevin later became an Executive Advisory Board Member for the Deese College of Business and Economics at A&T until his untimely passing.
 

His entrepreneurial spirit started at his beloved university with numerous small business endeavors from his dorm room well before walking across the stage for graduation.  He worked hard and played the same.  He always walked into any room confidently as if to say, "You need to get to know me, and I'll decide if I need to get to know you!"  This led to many successful business ventures, deals, and investments.  For the past several years he resided in Johannesburg, South Africa.  It was there that he said he felt most comfortable.

Kevin was an international entrepreneur. owning numerous businesses in Europe, Hong Kong, South Africa, and the United States. He loved to explore the world and would always ask his family to join him in his adventures abroad.  "Here you don't have certain things that you have to think about or worry about.  If you want to see what it's like to be free of all the anxieties and pressures ... come to Africa.  There is nothing better."

He is preceded in death by his mother, Nancy (Williams) Gray and brothers, Ellis Charles Gray Jr., and Terry Devon Gray.  He is survived by his father, Ellis Gray Sr. of Springfield;  siblings, Joe Gray Sr. (and Myra) of Thomasville, North Carolina, Darnell Gray (and Jichelle) of Whitsett, North Carolina, Michael Gray (and Yanitza) of Springfield, Reginald Gray (and Shanta) of Whiteville, North Carolina, Alvin Allen of Springfield, JaNine Gray of Charlotte, North Carolina, Brandee Gray of Whiteville, Nekeisha O'Connor, Dimitra Chatman both of Springfield, and Ericka Robinson-Williams of Whitsett, North Carolina;  a host of nieces and nephews, Shaunelle Smith (son, Isaiah), Joe Gray Jr. (Latoya-children, Jaquan & Jayla), Dominic (children, Mason & Mia), Ellis Gray III (Ayden, Ashton), Dymond Williams, Jalen Williams, Christian Cierra Gray (son, Kobe), Travis Franco, Tiffany (Courtney) Cradock, Tiara Franco, Catherine Gray, Jayden Gray, Kiersten, Karsten, and Kristian;  aunts, Odessa Gray and Jacqueline Williams;  uncles, Thurman Gray and Joe Gray;  a host of cousins, extended family, and friends.  He also leaves a special friend, Farhana Begum of New Jersey.

The calling hour is Friday 10-11 a.m. at Harrell Funeral Home followed by the funeral at 11 with interment in Hillcrest Park Cemetery.
