Kym Barnett Jr., 34, was born in Roxbury, Massachusetts, on October 14th, 1990. He was the beloved son of Pinky Gladden and the late Kim Barnett who passed earlier this year. He was known to family and friends as “Kymbo”. He transitioned to eternity on September 14, 2025. We lost someone so special and far too soon.
Raised in Springfield, Massachusetts, Kym was a graduate of Putnam Trade High School. He had a passion for carpentry and took pride in creating with his hands. Kym was a mentor/big brother to the kids in the community. He was a role model to many and the life of the party. You can always find Kym breakdancing with a crowd cheering him on. Kym gave love freely, and that love always found a way back to him. He found joy in the simple things like casting a line while fishing, cheering for the Boston Celtics as well as the Dallas Cowboys, and taking a peaceful walk with Dutch. Above all, Kym loved going to church and serving the Lord, letting his faith guide the way he lived and loved. He had been a member of Holy Redeemer Cathedral Church in Springfield, MA.
Kym leaves behind not only his mother, Pinky Gladden, but also his big brother, Austen Brown; his little sister, Aleesha Gladden; two nieces, Harmony Brown and London Gladden; one nephew, Liberty Charon; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Kym was loved by many. Kym Barnett Jr. will be deeply missed.
The calling hour is 11-12 p.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at Harrell Funeral Home, followed by funeral services at noon.
