Larry T. Atkins

  Larry Tyrone Atkins, 41, of Springfield, Massachusetts, passed away on July 26, 2024 in Springfield. 

  He was born in Clayton, Louisiana, to Jane Pearl Whitaker and Larry Atkins.  Larry was a proud graduate of the local public schools and cherished his education.  Larry had a deep love for his family and friends, especially his children.  He was known for being overprotective and nurturing, always striving to overcome any obstacles in his path.  Larry had a passion for basketball, enjoyed working on cars, playing poker and had a remarkable sense of humor that could light up any room.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

  He leaves to cherish his memory, three daughters, Shykira Douglas-Atkins, Aiyana Douglas, and Azzira Douglas;  two sons, Tavion Davis and Tyrique Davis;  three brothers, Daniel Atkins (Shonda Pete), Anthony Turner, and Marques Green;  two sisters, Tywanda Atkins and Monica Atkins;  and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and other relatives.  He was predeceased by his parents, Jane Pearl Whitaker and Larry Atkins, and his first love, Diane Douglas the mother of his daughters. 

The calling hour is 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 33 Oak Street, Springfield, MA, followed by funeral services at 11, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.
