Larry David Smith Jr., 34, the son of Laureen Jones and Larry David Smith, who was affectionately known as "Lil Larry," transitioned from this life on Wednesday, August 26, 2020. Larry attended William N. DeBerry School, Rebecca Johnson, New Leadership Charter School and the High School of Commcerce and earned his High School Equivalency Credentials thru the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Board of Education. At an early age, Larry was a competetive athlete and football was his passion. At nine years of age he enthusiastically presented the appropriate documentation to the 5A Athletics and joined the football team where he learned to play all positions--offense and defense. He was a die-hard Patriot fan for life whose social media name was "Brady Bryant!" His love of the sport never left him and in 2013 Larry attended his first NFL game in Atlanta (Patriots vs. Falcons). Larry also loved music, good food and fast living but always kept it real--family first! He was an industrious young man and at 12 years old convinced a cousin to hire him as a summer worker at Henderson Funeral Home. That same industriousness carried over when, a few years later, he accepted a position at Restaurant Depot in Ludlow. Then Larry met and married Kanei Eddington. This union was a decision that would mark monumental changes for his life. While their union was short it was something that Larry had longed for in his life. He began to talk about turning his life around. Larry accepted the Lord Jesus Christ in September 2016. His final days included daily scripture reading and teaching about scripture with his "Memo." Larry was passionately loved by his family and was sadly predeceased by his Dad Larry David Smith, his paternal grandparents Deacon Dudley and Mother Bernice Smith, his aunt Bernadine Smith; cousins Timothy Smith and Destiny Field Weaver; maternal grandfather David Jones Jr., his great-grandmother Helen A. Greene and Uncle Rockwood Greene. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife Kanei Smith, children Genevieve Milan Smith of GA and Mason Carter Smith of Springfield; his step-children Jayson McIvery Jr., Da'khi Daniels, Harlem Brown and Aubrey A. Finegan, his mother Laureen M. Jones; his brothers Alan Walker and Tyrese Myles Phillips; his paternal uncles Raynard (Joanne) Smith of NJ, Timothy Smith of FL, Benjamin and Johnnie Smith of Springfield,MA; his aunts Bonnie (Elder Edward) Cisero, Darlene (Roy), Martha Smith, Teresa Pope, his maternal grandmother Nancy "Memo" Jones Callands, Aunt Tarra Jones Lyons; uncle David Jones, III, his mother-in-law Falana Baptiste and father-in-law Keith Eddington; sisters-in-law Keiah Eddington and Cameo Foster; a god-brother Denzel Washington; god-sons Ta'von Amiss and Terrance Gibson Jr.; a special childhood friend Terrance Gibson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and community members to celebrate his life.
