Lilian Brown

  Lillian Marie (Hawkins) Brown, 67, departed this life on Friday, February 3, 2023, at her home.  Born in Barksdale, Louisiana, she was a daughter of Alfred Hawkins and Mary (Gustav) Hawkins.  Lillian was a fifty-three year resident of Springfield, where she graduated from Springfield schools.  She had been employed by The Center Before and After School Program, as the Housekeeping Supervisor at Holiday Inn, and also as manager of a Friendly’s Ice Cream restaurant.  A member of St. John’s Congregational Church, and Ladies of the 80’s, she had numerous interests, including growing plants, watching Judge Judy on tv, visiting Hamden Beach, watching football (especially the New England Patriots), playing Bingo at Christ The King Center, taking long car rides, listening to Gospel music, and going to the Christmas Tree Shops.

  Pre-deceased by her parents;  four siblings, Joyce Carter, Cynthia Brown, James Brown, and Lennie Brown;  and her mother-in-law, Joyce Brown, she is survived by her husband, Terrell Brown Sr.;  three sons, James Stevenson III, Nathan Stevenson, and Terrell Brown Jr.;  two daughters, Amanda Stevenson and Carey Stevenson;  a brother, Alfred Hawkins;  six sisters, Rose Wiggins, Kim Brown, Christy Robertson, Jeanette Haynes, Carolyn Farmer, and Jeanette Brown;  eighteen grandchildren;  five great grandchildren;  and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at Harrell Funeral Home.
