On Saturday February 12, 2022, our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend, Lillie Mae Daniels, gained her wings and was called home to our heavenly father.
Born in Shellman, Georgia, to the late Rosie Wiggins and Temp Davenport, she attended Albany, Georgia, All Girls High School, where she excelled academically and as an athlete playing softball. Which is where she ultimately met her future husband James Daniels Jr. They eventually married and made their forever home in Springfield in 1954.
She loved baseball and the Red Sox was her favorite team. She also loved to play bingo, but unfortunately hated to lose! One of her favorite pastimes was listening to her gospel music. She was employed at the Springfield Marriot Hotel as a Supervisor in the Housekeeping Dept. and retired after 25 years.
She was a member of the Shiloh Community Pentecostal Church.
She was predeceased by her husband, James Daniels Jr., her parents, Rosie Wiggins and Temp Davenport, a son, Lewis Daniels, five brothers, Willie Coleman, Earl Best, JC Davenport, Temp Davenport Jr., and Charlie Davenport.
She leaves to cherish her memory, 10 children, Mary Wimberly (and Robert) of Conway SC., Wilbert Daniels (and Sherri) of Wallingford CT., Willie James Daniels (and Frances), Mary Brown (and Larry), Dianne McMillan Daniels, Doris Daniels, Theodore Daniels (and Krista), Tracy Daniels, Charlene Little (and Kenny), and Craig Daniels (and Laurie), all of Springfield; 57 grandchildren; 114 great grandchildren; 38 great-great grandchildren; 10 sisters-in-law; 7 brothers-in-law; and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends. She will be truly missed.
The calling hour is 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at Shiloh Seventh Day Adventist Church, 797 State Street, followed by funeral services at 11.
