Linda Gwendolyn Mock, 72, of Elmore Avenue, Springfield, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2022 at home. Born in Princeton, West Virginia she was a daughter of the late James Henry Mock, Sr and Shirley Ann (Harris) Mock. The Mock family came to Western Massachusetts as a result of their father's Transfer during active duty at Westover Air Force Base in Chicopee, MA.
.
Linda, received her Bachelor's degree from Elms College and her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Connecticut. She had many successful years at Head Start as a social worker and volunteer coordinator. Sadly and all too soon her working career was abridged when Linda suffered a life altering stroke. She was an out- going, well spoken, quirky individual with a heightened fashion sense. Her laureates were not only academic as Linda was known throughout the Mock family as the "gift giver;" the one who loved to help any and everyone. She was extremely detail oriented and loved to plan and organize all manner of family activities.
Predeceased by her father and a son Alfred Katiba Mock, she leaves to cherish her memory: her mother Shirley Mock, two sons Alexi Khalil Mock and Avery Kareem Mock and a brother James Henry Mock, Jr., all of Springfield; five sisters Janet Mock and Lisa Mock both of Springfield, Rosland Wilson of Jacksonville, FL, Vera (Mock )Lester of Norfolk, VA and Donna Mock of Atlanta, GA; her lifetime partner James Eaddy; two grandchildren Kii-esha Perry and Noah Cobb and three great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
A memorial service to honor Linda's life will be held at a later date.
