Linder Jean King was born in New Brockton, Alabama on May 20, 1949 to Mildred (Caldwell) King and R.V. King. She attended area schools and completed studies at the Warren G. Smith School in New Brockton. Linder was an artist and hair styling was her craft. For many years she worked tirelessly to make every person who sat in her styling chair, feel better about themselves when they left than when they had walked in. Three years ago she relocated to Springfield, Massachusetts after having traveled and lived in many different cities and towns across the United States.
On Monday, July 27, 2020 Linder departed this life. She will be lovingly remembered forever by her family and friends, but most by her four sons Anthony King (and Lisa), Darryl King (and Maria) and Wayne Sr. all of Springfield and Jeffery King (and Kim Allemend) of New Orleans, LA; a brother Freddie King Sr. (and Emma) of Springfield; an honorary daughter Diane Burton of Springfield, an honorary nephew Keith "Sweets" Patterson and Devoted Friend Tikidra Taylor; her grandchildren Shane King, Wayne Jr., Wayne III, AJ King, Anthony Jr. King, Shayla King, Natasha Allemand, Alyssa Allemand, and Derrick Allemand, William Levine, Ivanna King, and Jaylen Scott; 8 great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. Linder was predeceased by her parents, and siblings Eulice King and Cynthia King. There will be a "walk-thru" wake on Thursday followed by a Celebration of Linder's Life at noon with interment at Oak Grove Cemetery. During these uncertain times of the Corona Pandemic, those who attend services must wear a mask and social distance.
