Lois Lucy Carroll, 71, of Springfield, Massachusetts, departed this life on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Baystate Medical Center.
Born in Springfield, she was a daughter of the late James Lincoln Carroll and the late Gloria (Young) Carroll. Lois graduated from The High School of Commerce. She attended and received her Bachelors Degree (1976) from Rutgers University and received a Master’s Degree (+45 credits) in Special Education from American International College. She retired in 2014 from the City of Chicago, and she taught severe profound students for more than 20 years.
Lois loved and had cats from 9 ½ years old. From a young age she was an avid book reader and speed reader. She loved trying out new recipes and was an amazing cook who looked forward to cooking the entire holiday meal for her family and extended family. Initially a “Daddy’s Girl”, she redirected all her energy/effort for her only child. In her later years, she enjoyed casino computer games and traveling on guided tours.
Lois is survived by a son, Hans, aka. “Andy”; a daughter-in-law, Rebecca “Becky”, who became more like a daughter; and two grandchildren, Frank and Bren.
