Mrs. Lucy Davis, 92, of Springfield, Massachusetts, a daughter of Mr. Robert June Smith and Mrs. Dora Smith, departed this life on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at The Reserve in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts, where she currently resided.
Born in Maxeys, Georgia, she later married Mr. William Davis at Westover Air Force Base in Chicopee, Massachusetts. Mrs. Davis was dedicated to her family. She enjoyed preparing and hosting annual Thanksgiving meals. She also enjoyed gardening, working diligently to maintain a beautiful flower garden.
A longtime Springfield resident and dedicated member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, she served faithfully on the church Usher Board and was also a member of the Progressive Baptist Women. She loved being a member of the church and enjoyed getting dressed for Sunday worship with her favorite hats.
Mrs. Davis was predeceased by her parents, Mr. Robert June Smith and Mrs. Dora Smith, her husband Mr. William M. Davis, a daughter, Linda Lee Davis, sisters, Edith Baymon, Mary Alice Roberts, Evelyn Smith, a brother, Robert Smith, and a grandson, Nathaniel Davis.
She is lovingly survived by her children, Nathaniel Davis, Mrs. Patricia (and Willie) Jackson, Mrs. Judy Daniels (and Leroy Z. Daniels Jr., deceased), siblings, Mrs. Dorothy Jewels, Mrs. Marjorie Glenn, and Mrs. Gertrude Wright, her grandchildren, Erica Davis, Shawn Daniels, Latoya Davis, Kevin Davis, William Davis, Messiah A'shaii, Ahmeer "AJ" Johnson, Daisjha Davis, Diamond Davis, Demond Davis, Nai Davis, Williams Davis, Zarriah Davis, Kayson Davis, Kemani Davis, Lamier Davis, Latrel Davis, Robert Davis, and Amani Davis, and a host of other relatives and friends.
The calling hour will be 10:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 11, 2023., at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 17 John Street, Springfield, Massachusetts, followed by the funeral at 11:00. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
