Lugussie E. Dean

Lugussie Elizabeth Dean, 103 years young and the matriarch of five generations of family, departed this life on Monday, September 21, 2020, at her home on Brown St. Born in Pine Bluff, AR, she was a daughter of Johnny Johnson and Maggie Williams. She retired from Crown Linen after working there for many years. Mrs. Dean was a member and Mother of the Church at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Earlean Caldwell and Betty Mayweathers, both of Springfield; a sister, Lowree Mayweathers of Chicago, IL; 8 grandchildren, including two special grandsons, Desmond D. Caldwell and Vyndalin M. Caldwell; 29 great-grandchildren; 41 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives. The calling hour is 3-4 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, followed by funeral services at 4 p.m.
