MC Bowens, 94, of Northampton Avenue, Springfield, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. He was born on Valentine's Day 1927, in Liberty, South Carolina, a son of Willie Bowens and Estella (Wilbon) Bowens.
In 1956, MC relocated to Springfield, where he worked for Spaulding Worldwide for many years and worshipped at Macedonia Church Of God In Christ. MC enjoyed baseball, fishing, fixing cars, and hunting.
He will be sadly missed by three sons, Willie Jessie Jerome Bowens of Rex, Georgia, Pastor Ricky E. Bowens (and Co-Pastor Linda) of Springfield, and Fredrick A. Bowens (and Shelley) of Winston-Salem, NC; two daughters, Annie B. Hollins of Pontiac, MI and Beverly Bowens of Springfield; a daughter-in-law, Wendy Bowens; 25 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
MC was pre-deceased by two sons, Franklin MC Bowens Jr., and Philip Lee Bowens, two sisters, Ellareen Bowles and Gladys Gay, and a son-in-law, Phillip Hollins. There will be a celebration to honor MC's life at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 8th at Shiloh Community Church Of God In Christ, 91 Jasper Street. The calling hour is from noon to 12:30 p.m. Masks will be required for attendance. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
