Marian White Obituary

  Marian (Lee) White of Springfield, Massachusetts, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2022, at Mont Marie Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Holyoke, Massachusetts.  She was born in Autaugaville, Alabama, the 6th of 9 children of the late Murphy Lee Sr. and Emma (Clemons) Lee.  Marian graduated from Autauga County Training School.  Marian confessed Christ at an early age and attended Greater Saint Joseph African Methodist Episcopal Church in Autaugaville. 

  She moved to Springfield in 1960 and joined Wesley United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School, served as a member of the Administrative Board, lead the Adult and Family Ministry, and served on the planning committee of the Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Breakfast.  She was also a former member of the Urban League Guild and the Red Hatters.  She worked and retired from Baystate Medical Center Hospital as Licensed Practical Nurse.  Upon retirement she loved to travel, visiting Africa and Europe. 

  Marian married the late Billy T. White in 1971.  She had two sons, Christopher White of Springfield and Sean (Valencia) Lee of Autaugaville.  She also leaves to cherish her memory a sister, Bertha (Lee) Goins of Autaugaville; two brothers, James (and Ethel “Bonnie” (Williams)) Lee and Wayman (and Ethel (Sims)) Lee, both of Springfield;  a sister-in-law, Rosa Pope of Louisville, Kentucky;  two brothers-in-law, Richard (and Mildred) White of Peachtree, GA and Harry White of Louisville;  a grandson, Michael William-Lee;  a great-granddaughter, Olivia Lee;  and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.  Marian is preceded in death by two brothers, Solomon Lee and Murphy (and Gladys) Lee Jr. of Jacksonville, Florida and Winston (and Dorothy Jean) Lee of Springfield;  and two sisters, Nancy (and Luis Golson) and Bettye (and Howard) Willis of Detroit, Michigan. 

The calling hour is 9-10 am Saturday at Shiloh Community Pentecostal Church, 91 Jasper St., Springfield, with the Celebration of Life starting at 10.
