Marie Sellers (Cameron) Bell, of Victoria Street, Springfield, Massachusetts, departed this life on Friday, December 10, 2023, at home, peacefully surrounded by her loving family and friends. Marie was born in Johnsonville, North Carolina. She was the youngest and last surviving of ten children of the late Moses Cameron and the late Annie Lee (Hailey) Cameron.
Marie was pre-deceased by her husband, Arlie Bell Jr., her daughter, Terry A. Bell Thomas (Van) of Boston, and her six sisters and three brothers.
Marie was educated in Sanford, North Carolina. She moved to Springfield in 1957. Marie retired from Springfield Wire where she had worked for many years. While living in Springfield, she met and married Arlie Bell Jr. Marie leaves behind six children, Mary Lois of South Carolina, and Marietta, Annette, James (and wife, Maritza), Patricia, Sandra Bland (and husband, Calvin) all of Springfield; fourteen grandchildren, Johnas, Coretta, Calvin III, Lydia-Marie, Devon, Ash, James Jr., Denzell, Van Jr., Lamar, Willie, Brittney, alongside two special grandchildren, Veleka Cameron and Charles McLaurin; seventeen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Marie was a member of the New Creation Discipleship Ministries Church of Springfield, MA. Anyone who knew Mrs. Bell knew her by “Ma Bell”. They knew her laugh, smile, sense of humor, and her big heart. Ma Bell motto was “Why be sad when you can be happy”. Ma Bell will be truly missed by family and friends.
The calling hour is 10-11 a.m. Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Macedonia Church Of God In Christ, 215 Tinkham Road, Springfield, MA, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery
