Marvin Carter Obituary

 Marvin Junior Carter, 66, of Chestnut Street., Springfield, Massachusetts, departed this life on February 8, 2022, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.  Born in Opelika, Alabama, he was a son of the late Marvin Cooper and the late Hattie Mae Carter.

  A 50-year Springfield resident, Mr. Carter served in the United States Marine Corps, had been employed by the Springfield School Department for many years, and was a member of Macedonia Church of God In Christ, where he served as an Usher.  He was proud of annually being a ride operator at the Big E.  In addition, he was a Mason and enjoyed softball, fishing, cooking, and traveling. 

Pre-deceased by his wife, Sherie (Glascow) Carter, he is survived by two brothers, Sherwood Jerome Carter of New Bedford, Massachusetts and Ricky Lamont Carter of Springfield;  Shay Glascow, whom he raised;  and a host of nieces and nephews. 

The calling hour is 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Harrell Funeral Home, followed by funeral services at noon.
