Mary Josephine “Jo” (Ingram) Postell, 95, was born to Joseph Ingram and Masie Stephens in Decatur County, Georgia. She passed away in the early morning hours of May 29, 2026, at her home in Springfield, MA, holding the hand of Joseph, her loving husband of 73 years.
Mary Jo attended Classical High School in Springfield, MA and worked at Milton Bradley in East Longmeadow, MA and Buxton Manufacturing in Agawam, MA. She was also a hairdresser in the city for many years. She married Joseph Postell on September 27, 1952, and together they raised five children. Mary Jo was a member of St. John’s Congregational Church in Springfield. Mary Jo was an avid bingo player at the various churches in the city.
Mary Jo is preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Ingram Jr. She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph E. Postell and her five children, Patricia Pepper Postell (Julian Michael Washington) of Springfield, Michael Postell of Washington DC, John Postell (Samantha) of Framingham, MA, and Theresa Beal and Joan Postell Porter both of Springfield, four sisters, Madeline Devane of Palmetto, Florida, Carol Millette of Windsor, CT, Judy Williams of Ware, MA, and Doreene Ivory of Decatur, Georgia, and her sister-in-law, Helen Spence. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren as well as many, many nieces and nephews to mourn her.
Private services were held at Harrell Funeral Home.
