Matilde Adriana (Blades) Campbell, was born on January 9, 1922 to Ruben Blades and Miriam Thomas in Red Tank, Canal Zone Panama, Republic of Panama.
She emigrated to the United States in 1955, residing in California where she met and married Hubert Campbell. Together they resided in California for many years until his death. In 1986 Matilde relocated to Springfield, Massachusetts. She worked here as a Foster Grandparent for 17 years. Matilde was a loyal and proud member of Revival Time Evangelistic Center under the leadership of the late Apostle J. C. Williams and current pastor Steven R. Williams. There she served as Sunday School Super intendant and prayer warrior and in many other capacities.
She was predeceased by four sisters Josephine, Blanche, Gladys and Catherine; and two brothers Ralph and Hubert. She leaves several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, a host of other extended family and many friends. In honor of her 99th birthday and a life well-lived there will be a visitation on Saturday at Harrell Funeral Home at 9:00 a.m. Due to the pandemic and covid restrictions, there will be limited seating for the 10 a.m. funeral. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
