Melvin L. Streeter, 70, of Springfield, MA passed away peacefully in his home on May 20th, 2022. He was born in Dover, NC on March 2nd, 1952, to Dorothy (Mabry) and Marion Streeter Sr. Melvin attended and graduated from Springfield Technical High School, ’70 and Springfield College, ‘02.
Melvin loved his work as a Technician & Educator in various capacities throughout Hartford, CT and Hampden County, MA and enjoyed sharing his wealth of knowledge in various areas. He also enjoyed participating in building the Kingdom of God, watching movies, etc. Being a husband and a dad brought him an unspeakable joy but being GranPa, G-Daddy, Dude to his 14 grandchildren gave him a noticeable pride and purpose.
Melvin honorably served his country as a Vietnam wartime veteran in the ‘70’s and served his community in various capacities as well. He also served as a proud member and was recently elevated as Auxiliary Bishop at Christian Cathedral/HCOC. Melvin is survived by his dedicated wife, Tammie L. Streeter; four sons, Anton, Kareem, Damond, and Marcus; a daughter, Tamari; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by both his parents Marion & Dorothy Streeter and siblings, Claudie and Bette.
The calling hour is 10-11 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2022, at Christian Cathedral, 205 Eastern Ave, Springfield, MA, followed by funeral services at 11, with burial in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, MA.
