Mildred Louise (Hardy) Dessaso, 76, of Liberty St., Springfield, passed from this life on Thursday, February 20, 2020, at her home, surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Vredenburg, AL, a daughter of Deacon James Hardy Sr. and Deaconess Iola (Mims) Hardy. She had been employed as an LPN for several years at the former Monson State Hospital. Mrs. Dessaso was a communicant of St. Mary's Parish in Hampden. Her true joy was teaching the word of God to her grandchildren. Over the years, she read and wrote poetry and authored a book of poetry. Pre-deceased by her parents, four siblings, James Hardy Jr., Rosie “Weedie” Williams, Annie McKenzie, and ora “Mutt” Stallworth, a great-niece, Mona Stallworth, and a great-grandson, ZayD Darnell Brystan Dessaso, she is survived by her husband of 52 years, Mannicue Dessaso of Springfield; a son, Christopher Dessaso of Kansas; three daughters, Monique Dessaso, Kimberly Mendibe, and Monica Dessaso, all of Springfield; a brother, Lonnie Hardy of Springfield; a sister, Rev. Queen Ester Hardy of Alabama; and five grandchildren, Garrison Dessaso, Chayne Dessaso, Kaia Mendibe, Kenai Mendibe, and Aizea Mendibe. The calling hour is 10-11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Christian Cathedral, 205 Eastern Ave., followed by the funeral at 11:30 with burial in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery.
