Nancy (Coles) Davis, 85, of Rupert St., departed this life on Sunday, January 30, 2022. Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the late Johnson Coles and the late Amy (Jenkins) Coles.
A lifelong Springfield resident, Ms. Davis had been employed as a nurse by Baystate Medical Center. She was a very active member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, where she served as a member of the Board of Stewards, Secretary of the Official Board, member of the Organized Lay Organization, a Class Leader, member of the Commission on Evangelism and the Commission on Publicity. Nancy enjoyed craft work, reading, and playing piano.
Pre-deceased by a brother, Peter Coles, she is survived by four children, John Davis of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Donald Davis of Chicopee, Massachusetts, Dorcas “Dee” (and Kai) Jones of Springfield, and Kamari Hall; a brother, Howard (and Angela) Coles of Louisville, Kentucky; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Monique McKnuckles, Anthony Edwards, Destinne Edwards (her partner in crime), and Tamari Hall; and her cat/companion, Marvin.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday morning at Oak Grove Cemetery. At 10:30 a.m. the procession will leave Harrell Funeral Home, 355 St. James Avenue, Springfield, MA.
