After a brave battle with cancer, Nikki Varnadore (age 48) of Chesapeake, Virginia, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2023, surrounded by the love of her family. She was the adored firstborn of Carolyn and Leon Varnadore, eagerly entering the world and many hearts on July 30, 1975, in Springfield, Massachusetts.
Nikki was a bright light whose laughter could fill any room and lighten the load on any heart. She deeply loved her family and was especially fond of her nieces and nephew, treating them as if they were her own. She was also a generous, supportive daughter, sister, cousin, and loyal friend, always there when needed. In addition, she was an avid “patron of the arts” commissioning many of the pieces made by her niece, Nia. She took great pride in those creations, displaying them all over her home and at work. Nikki had a special kind of love that made you feel good inside. We will love her for the rest of our lives.
Nikki is survived by her mother, Carolyn Varnadore, and her sisters, Leah Varnadore, Sylvia Middlebrooks, and Dyan Varnadore. She also leaves behind her nieces, Arianna Middlebrooks and Nia Redd, and nephew, Demetreus Middlebrooks. Along with a host of aunties, uncles, cousins, close friends, and co-workers whom she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her father, Leon Varnadore, in 2007.
Nikki was laid to rest in a private burial. A virtual memorial service for close friends and family will be held on a later date to celebrate Nikki's life and to honor her memory.
