Ophelia Denise Stearns, 59, of Mulberry Street, Springfield, Massachusetts, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023. She was born In Queens, New York, the beloved daughter of Frederick Stearns and Hattie (Turner) Stearns. Ophelia moved from Long Island to Springfield 35 years ago and worked here as a CNA.
Pre-deceased by a son Brynell Fonville, she leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Kenneth Stewart of Atlanta, Georgia and Stephen Spratt Jr. of Hudson, Massachusetts; four daughters, Janette Stearns of Albany, New York, Dawana Stearns of Hempstead, New York, and Alexis Stearns and Biance Gorham both of Springfield; two brothers, Antoine McClurken of Enfield, Connecticut and Shareef Stearns of Springfield; sixteen grandchildren, including Gabriel, Simya, Versii, Jannasia, Sche, Jason, Courtney, Braylon, Tyteonna, and Teashawn; and six great-grandchildren.
The calling hour will be from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, December 8, 2023, at Canaan Baptist Church of Christ, 1430 Carew Street, Springfield, followed by the funeral at 1.
