Patricia O'Neal Obituary

  The beautiful Patricia Mae O'Neal was born December 13, 1925, to the late Allen and Ethel Giles in Newton, Kansas. Patricia was born in Newton, Kansas, and then moved to Paris, Texas, where she attended Gibbons High School, graduating in 1943.  A year after graduation, Patricia married the love of her life, Irvin O'Neal Jr.

  Patricia moved to Springfield, Massachusetts, where she worked at F.W. Sickles and was one of the first Black women to work at the Springfield Post Office, retiring after 35 years of service.  Patricia was a proud member of Third Baptist Church for over 60 years, serving in various organizations like the "Willing Workers, Flower Guild and Missionaries.  "Mama, " as she was affectionately called, cared for many; she will be missed dearly.

  Patricia was preceded in death by both of her parents, Allen and Ethel Giles, her sisters, Audrey Massey, Theresa Rucker, Lenore Darden and her two brothers, Warren Giles and Clifford Giles, her son Irvin "Terry" O'Neal III, and her husband Irvin O'Neal Jr.  She is survived by: her daughters, Yvonne O'Neal and Sylvia Bethea, her son Louis Weir, her grandchildren James T. Bethea, Tiffany O'Neal, Taurean L. Bethea and Terrell Weir, her great-grandchildren, Isander "Lexi" Robles, Kajai J. Bethea, Frances K. Bethea, Kinidi S. Curl, Leylani S. Bethea and Nihla J. Bethea.
