PAULINE (GUNTER) CLARKE, 91, of Springfield, departed this life on Tuesday March 14, 2023 at her home. Born in Keeling, VA, she was the daughter of Alice (Womack) Gunter and Arthur Gunter.
Sixty years ago Pauline relocated to Springfield, MA from Pittsylvania County and happily made Springfield her home. Here she worked for Rainbow Coat Factory and later at A & P Bakery. Pauline is survived by her three daughters Barbara J. Clarke of Chicopee, MA, Debra Clarke Youngblood of Springfield and Cathy R. Clarke of Washington, D.C., two sons Cleo Maurice Clarke (and Doreen) and David A. Clarke (and Cynthia) all of Springfield, her eldest grandson DeJuan Clarke whom she and her husband raised, as well as six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, and beloved husband Cleo C. Clarke, her sister Mary Taylor formerly of Baltimore, MD., two brothers William Gunter formerly of Baltimore, MD and George Gunter formerly of Springfield, MA.
There will be a "Celebration of Pauline's life" announced at a later date.
