Phonzo C. Brathwaite

 Phonzo Carlisle Brathwaite Sr. 86, formally of Springfield, departed this life on July 21, 2021.  Phonzo was born in Barbados, W.I. and was the son of Joseph and Harriett Brathwaite.  Mr. Brathwaite was a retired Sky Captain for American Airlines. 

 He was pre-deceased by his parents, his wife of 51 years, Thelma M. Brathwaite, his siblings, Noel, Verna, Ursula, Carmen, Eudora, Ralph, Joseph, and Eleanor, his grandson, Jeremiah, and son-in-law, Rawle Ramsay.  He is survived by his children, Merviena Sobers and Cescell Howard of Springfield, Cordelia Ramsey of Barbados, Wendy James for London, Timothy Brathwaite and Phonzo Brathwaite Jr. of Oklahoma, and Kevin Brathwaite of Delaware;  sons-in-law, Oswald Howard of Springfield and Worrell James from London, England;  and daughter-in-law, Lashunda Brathwaite of Oklahoma;  11 grandchildren;  11 great-grandchildren;  2 great-great-grandchildren;  and a host of other relatives and close friends.

  The calling hours are 6 PM to 8 PM Thursday, August 5, 2021, at Harrell Funeral Home, 355 St. James Ave, Springfield, MA, and the funeral service is 11 a.m. Friday, August 6, 2021, at Christ Church Cathedral, 35 Chestnut St., Springfield, MA.
