Reed Douglas Hosten Jr., 67, of Northway Drive, Springfield, MA, departed this life at home on Friday, May 22, 2020. Born in Springfield, on June 20, 1952, he was a son of Isabel Hosten and the late Reed Hosten Sr. Douglas was a student of the Springfield Public Schools, graduating from the former Classical High School. Douglas was a Vietnam Era Veteran of the United States Army, serving as a wireman and a combat photographer. He was a member of Shiloh Seventh Day Adventist Church. He was also a carpenter and graphic designer and worked as a freelance photographer for many years. Douglas was a kind and generous individual with a great sense of humor and a warm affectionate smile. He loved his mother and was a quintessential momma’s boy. Pre-deceased by brothers, Eddie, Michael, and Willie C. Hosten, he is survived by his mother, Isabel Hosten; three children, Sheena White (and Martin) of Enfield, CT, Brandon Hosten (and Noelle) of West Springfield, MA, and Rainelle X Jackson of Tuskegee, AL; three siblings, Bernard Hosten of Atlanta, GA and Claudette Powell (and Delroy) and Tyrone McClain (and Cassandra), both of Springfield; two grandchildren, Natalie Madison and Naomi White; uncles and aunt, Evins C., Peter, and Daniel Brantley (and Vera), all of Springfield and Lucille Murphy (and John) of Wilbraham, MA; nieces and nephews, Misty, Ayania, Travis, Shamoney, Tandrea, Angela, Santino, Chris, Precious, Amante, Jourdan, Jazmyne, Laniya, and Camron; beloved close friends, Maxwell Wiggins, Edvertis “JR” Thadison, Ronald Moore; and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services are private. He will be laid to rest at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
