Robert Gadsden Jr. Obituary

Robert Abraham Gadsden Jr., a son of Robert and Ruth (Ford) Gadsden of Charleston, South Carolina, was born on July 13, 1946 in Charleston, South Carolina.  He graduated from Wallace High School and worshipped with his family at New Hope Baptist Church.  After relocating to Springfield, Massachusetts, he met and married Sandra Gadsden to whom he would be wed for more than 40 years.  He attended St. John's Congregational Church.  Not afraid of hard work, Robert had been employed at Springfield Plumbing, Gandara Mental Health Center and Consolidated Freightways.  He departed this life on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 in Springfield, Massachusetts.

  Pre-deceased by siblings, Sharon Gadsden, Wilhemina Thompson and Nathaniel Gadsden, an aunt Miriam McDaniels and an uncle Samuel Gardner, he leaves to cherish the memories of his life, his wife Sandra Gadsden; seven sons, Robert Gadsden, III of Jersey City, New Jersey, Anthony Daniels of Newark, Delaware, James Daniels, Chris Daniels, Jason Gadsden and Jermaine M. Rivera all of Springfield and Derrick Butler of Savannah, Georgia; his siblings Celia F. Carthon of North Charleston, South Carolina, Merle G. Murray of Chicopee, Massachusetts, Doris G. Washington of Marietta, Georgia, Sylvia M. Mitchell ( and Kevin) of Summerville, South Carolina, Darryl Mark Gadsden of North Charleston South Carolina, Fred L. Gadsden (and Debbie) of Ladson, South Carolina, Albert Gadsden (and Lavinia) of Jedburg, South Carolina, three aunts,  Edith Williams (and Tommy) of Lithonia, Georgia, Beatrice Gardner of Bowie, Maryland, Elizabeth Gardner of Reston, Virginia; three uncles Edward Gardner (and Audrey) of Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, Joseph Gardner (and Loretta) of Indian Orchard, Massachusetts and James Gardner of Loganville, Georgia; 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grand-children; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws who will miss him dearly.

A celebration of Robert's life was held at noon, January 26, 2021
