Robert Pendleton “POP”, 80, of Cheyenne Road, departed this life on Saturday, November 7, 2020. Born in Union Spring, AL, he was the son of the late Laura Belle Willis and the late John Pendleton. A Springfield resident most of his life, he served a term in the U.S. Army and retired from Monsanto in 1997 as a Chemical Engineer. Robert was an active member of Canaan Baptist Church of Christ. Robert enjoyed and participated in baseball, basketball, archery, bowling, fishing, billiards, sharpshooting, and arts and crafts. He is survived by his wife, Sarah (Stovall) Pendleton; two sons, John and Kevin Pendleton; two daughters, Yvette and Deidra Pendleton (Jessica Pendleton, wife); a sister, Gwendolyn Caulton; a brother, Floyd Willis; five grandchildren, Stacia, Kevin Jr., Mariah, Amadi Pendleton, and Malcolm Porter; and a host of other loving family members. A committal service will be held at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery at 2 p.m. Tuesday November 17, 2020. Due to COVID-19, seating inside the chapel is limited, but others outside will be able to listen to the proceedings.
