Obituary

  "Mother" Rose Lee (Motley) Scott, 92, of  Springfield, MA, passed away from her earthly home on Friday, June 9, 2023, surrounded by family.  She was born in Springfield on July 29, 1930, to Augustus Motley and Dearrist (Burke) Motley. 

  After graduating from Springfield schools, she began a lengthy career applying her gifts and talents as a seamstress at the Joseph Mfg. Co.  She married Leroy Scott who predeceased her and together they loved six beautiful children.  Mother Rose, as she is fondly known, is survived by two sons, Clifford Scott of Pueblo, CO, and Leroy Scott Jr. of Springfield;  three daughters, Ruby Scott Johnson and Sherline Scott, both of Springfield, and Lalita E. Scott of Athens, GA;  four grandchildren;  and three great-grandchildren. 

  In addition to her parents, Mother Scott was predeceased by a son, Willie Motley, and five siblings, Frank Motley, Mamie Banks, Mary Motley, Vera Worthy, and Ann Perkins.  There will be a calling hour Friday, June 23, at 10 a.m. at Whole Truth Temple followed by the funeral at 11 with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery
