Ruth (Ware) Thaxton, 95, of Springfield, Massachusetts, departed this life on Monday, April 24, 2023, at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield.
Born in Cuthbert, Georgia on February 6, 1928, she was a daughter of Julius Willis and Essie Mae (Jackson) Willis. A fifty-year resident of Springfield, Ms. Thaxton had formerly been employed by Belmont Laundry Company and also had been a home health care worker. She was a member and Missionary of Eternal Light Church. Pre-deceased by her two sons, Clifford Ware and Gossan Thaxton, two brothers, Willie Willis and Julius Willis, and a sister, Mabel Crawford, she is survived by three nephews, Floyd Willis, Anthony Bunns and Butch Finch, two nieces, Janis Gilbert and Gwen Caulton, sister in law Jessie Ruth Willis and an adopted daughter Nancy Cintron.
The calling hour is 11 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Harrell Funeral Home, followed by funeral services at noon, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.
