Samuel Elijah Malloy died peacefully on April 13, 2020. He was born on November 4, 1934 to the late Samuel J. and Polly Mcmillan Malloy. He was raised in Laurinburg, NC and moved to Springfield, MA in 1953. He worked at Mercy Hospital as an orderly until retirement. He was also employed with El Rancho restaurant on Boston Rd. and the Springfield Republican Newspaper for many years. Sam was a longtime member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Springfield where he also served as a van driver.
Sam or Sammy, as he was affectionately known, was very good with his hands and enjoyed doing home and car repairs, a trait he undoubtedly picked up from his father who owned his own automotive repair shop in North Carolina.
Survived by his wife, Dotty Malloy and his children, Polly Covington of Laurinburg, NC, Jeffrey Malloy of Holyoke, MA, Claudius Cole, Rodney Malloy, Emanuel Malloy, all of Springfield, MA, Sivia Malloy of Winthrop, MA and his grandchildren. Also survived by his brother Henry Malloy of Greer, SC. Predeceased by his brother Alton Malloy, Willie Mae Brown both of Springfield, MA, Martha Reives of Bronx, New York and Pearl Lena Deberry of Laurinburg, NC. Samuel E. Malloy will be buried at a later date in North Carolina. A public celebration of his life will be held at a later date, both in Springfield and in Laurinburg, NC.
