Sharon M. Tart, 57, of Springfield, MA, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, February 23, 2026.
Born in Clinton, NC, Sharon was the cherished daughter of the late Eloise Tart. She was educated in the Springfield Public Schools and dedicated her life to serving others through her work as a personal care assistant, cook, and school bus monitor. Sharon was known for her generous heart and kindness. She especially expressed her love through cooking—sharing meals that brought joy, comfort, and unforgettable memories to all who gathered around her table. She found great happiness in the friendly cookoffs she often had with her beloved brother in law, Clifton Mack.
Sharon leaves to honor her memory, her father, James Lewis; her daughters, Shatara Poindexter and Shannon Tart; and her bonus son, Travis Tart. She is also survived by her sister, Glenda Mack; her brothers, James Brown Lewis and Travis Lewis; and her treasured grandchildren—Amya, Adaya, Emoni, Devonna and Devon Jr., who she cherished. Sharon also leaves behind her longtime companion, Melvin Jacobs, whom she adored, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will deeply miss her warm and loving presence.
The family extends heartfelt appreciation to her devoted best friend, Vanessa, for many years of friendship and for her loyal support throughout Sharon’s illness.
Calling hours will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 5, at Harrell Funeral Home in Springfield, followed by the funeral service at 11:00. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery.
