Sherryl (Brown) Durley, 75, of Springfield, Massachusetts, departed this life on March 1, 2026, at Baystate Medical Center.
Born to Lulu Mae Brown and Francis Tention, in McCellanville, South Carolina, on June 14, 1950, she graduated from Lincoln High School in McCellanville, in 1968. She later gained her Associate of Applied Science Degree, where she focused on her soon to be career as a Secretary and Administrative Assistant for Springfield area businesses and her passion for serving and teaching turned from hobbies to a career. Her last employment was as a teacher in the Springfield Public Schools.
She is predeceased by both of her parents, her husband, Robert Durley, and three brothers, George “Ralph” Newton, Luther Newton, and Francis R. Tention Jr. She is survived by her aunt, Georgie Bell Lyons (and Otis); her children, Anissa Manigault (and Jerome) and Jeremy Robert Durley Sr.; her step-children, Bobby Durley and Monica Durley; four sisters, Rasheedah-Shamsid-Deen of North Carolina, Karen Tention of Washington, D.C., JoAnn Tention of New York, and Angela Moody (and Norris) of Georgia; two brothers, Rufus Tention of North Carolina and Wilford Brown (and Hestelle) of South Carolina; twenty-two grandchildren, Jerzyon Harrison-Durley, Thai Loving, Jeremy Durley Jr., Janice Jackson, Jymere Jones-Durley, Tulin Loving, Lilly Ellen Durley, Tristan Loving, Aiden Durley, Tamari Loving, Zilyhan Durley, Jer’Vonte Malyk Durley, Kristiannalee Durley, Jerome Manigault Jr. (and Dana), Eric-Shamauri Manigault, Tyshara Durley, T’ylazia Durley, Ayjon Cameron, Valencia Alexander, Calvin Williams, Keonte Williams, and Veronica Emmanual; twelve great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The calling hour is 4-5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24 at Harrell Funeral Home, followed by funeral services at 5 p.m.
