On Sunday morning the 17th day of January 2021, our dear mother, sister, meme, aunt (RuRu), and friend Synthia Marie Scott-Mitchell of Springfield, Massachusetts gained her wings and was called home to our Heavenly Father.
Born in Monroe, Louisiana on October 15, 1954 the 5th child of the late Charlie and Melissa Scott. Synthia accepted Jesus Christ at an early age; she knew the way to God was not just in the church. She was taught the power and benefit of doing good deeds from the heart with family, neighbors, friends, and strangers.
Synthia me and fell deeply in love with Onward Mitchell; they were married and blessed with two daughters.
Synthia had a bubbly personality and was a stranger to none; she was authentic, kind-hearted, caring, and full of life. She was educated in Ouachita Parish School System and the University Without Walls. Employed at Springfield Partners for Community Action Inc, for over 30 plus years, she was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the community she lived and worked in. She worked tirelessly advocating for social awareness of matters like food insecurities (Springfield Food Policy Council) and dementia/Alzheimer programs (Springfield Dementia Coalition).
Synthia was preceded in death by two siblings, Gloria Jean Berymon and Jerry Arthur Scott. She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Onward Mitchell of Shreveport, Louisiana; two loving daughters, L'Tonga D. Scott, Monroe, Louisiana and Angela Rose Mitchell, Springfield, Massachusetts; five grandchildren, Cary Malone Jr., Taylor Malone, Catavia Brown, all of Springfield, Massachusetts, Cortney Malone and Brianna Malone, both of Monroe, Louisiana; three great grandchildren, Kirean "Miss Annie", Kaiden, and Emelia all of Springfield, Massachusetts; siblings: four sisters, Barbara Brown, JoAnn Scott, Julies Wellington (Phillip), all of Springfield, and Tonette Scott-Herbert (Michael) of Careno, Louisiana; four brothers, Danny Berymon (Barbara), Groton, Connecticut, Charles Scott (Deborah), Kenneth Scott (Barbara), and Melvin Scott all of Springfield, Massachusetts; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and her work family at Springfield Partners.
