Thomas M. Kirley

  Thomas Martin Kirley, 55, of Chicopee, MA, ended his battle with cancer at home, surrounded by his loved ones, on Thursday, November 21, 2024.  Thomas was born in Holyoke, MA, on December 1st, 1968, to John and Sharon (Whitelock) Kirley. and grew up in the Forest Park section of Springfield, MA. 

  After graduating Robert L. Putnam Technical High School in 1987, Thomas went on to join the United States Army, where he served in Desert Storm.  Following his time served, Thomas had a 20-year long career as a CDL truck driver. 

  The most important role in Thomas’s life was that of a caring, loving, and wonderful friend, father, and grandfather. Thomas battled substance abuse and mental health illnesses, and worked hard to overcome this and maintained long term sobriety, which he and his loved ones were unbelievably proud of.

  Thomas never hesitated when encouraging and supporting others in their struggles.  He was known for his ability to light up a room, to make others feel comfortable without judgment, because of his humor, kindness, and generosity.  Thomas loved all things New England, especially sports, a good book, music, and live performances.  He was an avid animal lover and his dog, Princess Leia was his best friend.  He is incredibly missed each and every day by all those who knew him.

  Thomas Kirley is survived by his children, Rozilyne Kirley, Jozette Kirley, and Sean Kirley;  his grandson, Anthony Johnson;  his siblings, Robert Kirley and Ellen Hennessy;  his aunt, Sr Kathleen Kirley;  and many other family and friends. 

  Please join us for a Memorial Service on April 24, 2025, from 12:00-1:00 pm at Harrell Funeral Home, 355 St. James Ave., Springfield, Ma 01109 followed by a Committal Service at 2:00 pm at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam, MA.
