Venice D. (James) Wilson, 88, of Gresham Street, Springfield, Massachusetts, departed this life on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. Born in Charlotteville, Tobago, she was a daughter of Jacob James and Caroline (Jack) James.
Venice moved to Springfield in 1968 and was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Springfield Municipal Hospital and retired from Monson State Hospital. She was a dedicated member of Shiloh Seventh Day Adventist Church, where she served as Pathfinder Director, Choir Director, and Sabbath School Superintendent. She was also active in the Women’s Ministry and the Communion Services.
Pre-deceased by her husband, Malcolm A. Wilson, a brother, Boyd James, and four sisters, Letnie English, Elaine James, Cisley James, and Ziltha Dick, Venice is survived by three sons, Dave Wilson of Indian Orchard, Massachusetts, Rodney Wilson of Atlanta, Georgia, and Thor M. Wilson of Springfield; two daughters, Hazel Claudia Wilson Roach Baptiste of Monticello, Florida and Chrester Dick Woodley of Florida; a brother, Floyd G. James of Trinidad; 13 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The calling hour is 10-11 a.m. Monday at Shiloh Seventh Day Adventist Church, 797 State Street, Springfield, Massachusetts, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m.
