Willie Roy Hillman, 81, of 603 Berkshire Avenue, Springfield, Massachusetts, departed this life on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Lifecare of Wilbraham. Born in Zebulon (Pike County), Georgia, he was a son of Douglas Hillman and Queen (Walker) Hillman. A fifty-five year resident of Springfield, Willie was had been employed in factory work, painting, general contracting, and building construction. He was known as the “fix-it” handyman. He was a good man and had a knack for giving others nicknames.
Pre-deceased by his longtime partner of fifty-eight years, Mae Jeffery, Willie is survived by two sons, Ramsey Hillman of West Springfield, Massachusetts and Darron Hillman of Westfield, Massachusetts; a daughter, Machelle Hillman of Springfield; three step-children, Patricia Nulls of Springfield and Robert Lee Jeffery and Angeline Jeffery, both of Chicopee, Massachusetts; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The procession to Oak Grove Cemetery for the graveside service will depart from Harrell Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2023.
