Willie Robert Marrow, 83, of Garvey Drive, Springfield, Massachusetts, known as “Bill” to his neighbors and friends, departed this life on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at his home, surrounded by loving family. He was born to Ernest Marrow and Shirley Rosa (Satterwhite) Marrow in Henderson, North Carolina. After the death of his mother, he was raised by his aunt and uncle, Moses Marshall and Mary Ester (Satterwhite) Marshall. He served in the United States Air Force then relocated to Western Massachusetts 65 years ago where he worked at Pratt and Whitney, and later as a plant manager for Monsanto (Solutia) until retirement. He enjoyed gardening, restoring antique cars, attending trade shows, and solving crossword puzzles.
Willie leaves to cherish his memories, his only love, best friend, and wife of 57 years, Albertha (Marshall) Marrow, at home; two daughters, Yolanda Sherrie Marrow and Lisa Marie Hurst (and Frederick Jr.) both of Springfield; a step-son, Patrick Deon Marshall of Las Vegas, Nevada; a brother, Rayford Marrow (and Mary) of North Carolina; three grandchildren, William, Tiffany, and Ashley; a goddaughter, Dana Burr; and special cousin, Ruthie McKay; as well as several other cousins, nieces, nephews. Willie was preceded in death by his parents, his brother James, and two sisters, Josephine and Shirley.
There will be a public viewing on Wednesday, June 21st, in the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 17 John Street, Springfield, MA, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. followed by burial at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam at 2 pm.
