Willie Monroe Obituary

 Willie Brodys Monroe, 87, of  75 Otis Street, Westfield, MA passed away at Baystate Noble Medical Center on Sunday, October 24, 2021. He was born in Scotland County, Laurinburg, North Carolina the cherished son of Dollie Monroe and moved to the Springfield area in 1952 and was a 30 year Westfield resident.   He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War.  In addition to a 24 year career at Digital Corporation, Willie also worked for many years at Sarat Ford and Head Start.  He was the coach of The Monroe Express and enjoyed following Nascar, the Celtics and The Patriots . 

 Predeceased by his mother, a sister Lenora Monroe, a son David Monroe and two daughters Alice Donaldson and Sheila Monroe-Brown,  Willie leaves to cherish his memory his wife Carmen (Gonzalez) Monroe of Westfield; two sons Deacon Daniel Monroe and Willie Monroe Jr. (and Brenda) ; one daughter co-pastor Linda Bowens (and Pastor Ricky), a god-daughter Betty Gill all of Springfield, a niece Carolyn Monroe-Horne of Columbia, South Carolina; 20 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. 

  The visitation will take place  at Shiloh Church, 91 Jasper Street on Thursday, November 4th, 11:00-11:30 a.m. followed by the funeral at 11:30.  Burial will be in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam with military honors at 2 p.m.
