Willie Justina Smith, 90, gained her wings on March 24, 2022. Born in Hazelhurst, Mississippi, she moved to Springfield, Massachusetts, with her beloved husband, Enoch H. Smith Sr., where they built their family together.
She retired from Baystate Medical Center as a dietician and lived out the rest of her life in retirement, where she spent time cooking meals and spending time with her family. She had a beautiful spirit and showed her family endless love, commitment, forgiveness, and sacrifice despite our shortcomings.
She is predeceased by her husband, Enoch H. Smith Sr., two children, Enoch H. Smith II and Sheila D. Smith, her parents, William and Myrtle (Williams) Robinson, and two siblings, Elvin Robinson and Ruby (Robinson) Warell. She is survived by five children, Roland Smith, Alfred (and Ann) Smith, Connie Smith, David (and Moyah) Smith, Hope Smith, and Anthony Smith. She leaves two brothers, Ronnie Robinson, Dwight Robinson, a host of grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, to cherish her memory. Her family will greatly miss her.
A Fallen Limb
A limb has fallen from the family tree. I keep hearing a voice that says, “Grieve not for me.” Remember the best times, the laughter, the song. The good life I lived while I was strong. Continue my heritage. I’m counting on you. Keep smiling, and indeed the sun will shine through. My mind is at ease; my soul is at rest. Go on with your life and keep your chin up until that day comes that we are together again.
The calling hour is 11 a.m. to noon on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Harrell Funeral Home, followed by funeral services at noon with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.
